Charles Bradley and Folk Fest excitement
Everyone at Honest is getting excited for the weekend at Folk Fest. There's lot's to look forward to. A few I'm excited for are: DeVotchka, Knaan, Sidi Toure, Beth Orton, Bahamas, The Head and the Heart, Good Old War, Besh O Drom and Iron and Wine. I'm sure there's tons of other good stuff that will go down as well.
For me, a soul singer named Charles Bradley has been brought to my attention. His story is really interesting. Charles was born in Gainesville, Florida in 1948 and was raised in Brooklyn, New York. Most of his childhood was spent living on the streets. In 1964 his sister brought him to a James Brown concert where he was mezmerised. Now, Charles Bradley is now 62 years old and released his sorrowful, soulful album, No Time For Dreaming, in 2011. Here he is live, singing Heart of Gold by Winnipeg's own Neil Young.
