Does Your Wesbite Use Google Maps?

Google has made a change. As of June 11, 2018, any websites or apps using Google Maps now require a valid API key.

Without the key installed on your website, you may be getting low-resolution watermarked maps or an error message depending on the nature of the map view.

To re-instate your Google Maps, you need to generate an API key and update your app or website with that key. You’ll also require a credit card on file. Without it, your map will stop working as of July 16, 2018. Please let us know if there’s anything more we can do to assist with your website, or your broader communication needs. There are some resources on Google to help you or your programmer in this process at cloud.google.com/maps-platform/user-guide/, but it can be a confusing process for non-programmers.

If you would like, we can generate the API key for you and add it to your site. To do so, we would need the following:

  • Your website address,
  • Your FTP info including you host, user login and password,
  • If you have a wordpress site, the admin login and password,
  • Your Google business account* (login and password. *Google accounts require a valid credit card information).

Please feel free to contact us and provide the information to complete the set up. We can do this for a nominal cost.

If there’s anything more we can do to assist with your website, or your broader communication needs drop us a line.
